v&a loans Team Away Day

Since 2014, Open To Create… has co-designed creative team away days within the V&A’s Exhibitions Department. The Loans Team, a subdivision of the department, has eight people.

The Away Day for the Loans Team took place in 2015. The day was co-designed with senior management to better understand team roles and dynamics.

We used team games, looking at Myers Briggs preferences, one to one reflection exercises using the Personality Tree, and a team Design Your Own Treasure Hunt walk and creative, sensory play-based game.

We ended our session in St. Mary's Secret Garden with a planting session and an evaluation session.

Feedback from participants on the day’s impact:

“I learnt I bring an interesting aspect to my role and to be ok with being open with my team members.”

“I had an open mind and was receptive to the activities and learnt that I can embrace my Myers Briggs preferences.”

“I learnt that everyone in the team has similar experiences and anxieties.”

“A surprise to hear and understand other team members strengths and weaknesses.”

“A chance to reflect, challenge established perceptions.”
